Author: Pichet Ong Title: The Sweet Spot: Asian Inspired Desserts Read: Summer 2007 Format: Text Reviewer: bek
Pichet Ong is a familiar story. Talented in non culinary disciplines, he turns to cooking and if I remember right, probably
spends time with Alice Waters. It sounds like Jeremiah Tower; however, Pichet is mostly fascinated by Asian desserts.
This book shows his enthusiastic pursuit trying to define an emerging genre - the Asian dessert. Pichet acknowledges the
heritage of sweets in Asian culture and then promptly sets out to expand and possibly redefine the scope of his sweet treats.
Pichet integrates savory items too. This book isn't going to set next to Martha Stewart's big book of appetizers. It may
be better suited for industry types trying to expand their post dinner time treats.
