Owning a house means having a whole new set of things to do. These projects can usually be done in a weekend, but that means all the other things you need to get done are put on hold for that weekend.

So, I never really envisioned myself as Joe Fix-It. Some of these tales are cautionary. I don't think I can over emphasize the "begat factor" © of home ownership. A project seems simple on the outside but necessitates several other purchases - begatting more and more stuff. For example, painting at it's bare minimum would suggest a can of paint and a brush. There's so much more. You need drop cloths, paint sticks, tape, different brushes, rollers, trays, and cleanup tools. I don't know what it would take to do a really professional job. I'm not sure if it would work, but there's two sides to this - 1) you outsource everything - plumbers, painters, buy ready made furniture or 2) spend nearly every weekend at your local La Casa Despot (Home Depot for those of you not familiar with my version of Spanish).

Anyways, here's a little list of stories and photos.
