Attic Fan
Our little brick ranch with the shallow pitch roof can sure get hot during the hotter summers we have in this state. We put in an air conditioner and had to put it in the attic because the house has no other forced air (heating is ambient). The AC works hard to keep the house cool, but it's working in the super heated attic. I put in some attic fans. It was relatively easy work. A tiger saw made quick work of the roof and getting the fans to slide in under the existing shingling is the only finesse part of the job. I hired someone from BestContractors.com and it worked out great - KS Electric. The fans are above the kitchen and above the bedroom. The kitchen fan is set to 85 degrees and the bedroom is set to 95 degrees. They turn on automatically and really push out the hot air. The house is five degrees cooler now and the AC doesn't have to work as hard.
